From cutting-edge malls to quaint shops and boutiques, Greater Richmond brims with promise for finding all things special. Stony Point Fashion Park and Short Pump Town Center opened in 2003 as upscale fashion draws. Stony Point -- doubling as Richmond's first free WiFi hot spot -– has Dillard's, Saks Fifth Avenue and Dick's Sporting Goods, along with an eclectic mix of smaller retailers. Anchored by Dillard's, Hecht's, and Nordstrom, Short Pump shops include Fink's Jewelers and Jacardi Paris for kids. Chesterfield Town Center, anchored by Dillard's, Hecht's, Sears, JCPenney, has more than 140 shops. Regency Square Mall has Hecht's in two locations, JCPenney, and Sears, along with shops from Crabtree & Evelyn to Sephora.

The Shops at Willow Lawn, features Dillard's and more than 100 merchants. Designer shops abound near Richmond's Libbie and Grove avenues. Richmond's Carytown, attracting legions of bargain hunters, yields more than 10 blocks of galleries, eateries, and kitschy specialty gift stores like Mongrel and World of Mirth, the latter described by owners as "Dr. Seuss meets Pee Wee's Playhouse." For homegrown shopping experiences, downtown's historic 17h Street Farmers Market (operating since 1737, and open Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from May through October), provides ripe regional fare amid a place to mix with locals. Ellwood Thompson's Natural Market, on Thompson Street, stocks organic foods and cruelty free personal care items.
